DESCRIPTION:Date: July 11\, 2023 1:00 pm – July 11\, 2023 2:00 pm EDT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInternational Experience Canada (IEC) is the Government of Canada’s Working Holiday visa program\, which allows Canadians between 18-35 to work and travel for up to two years in any of over 30 partner countries and territories and for youth from these partners to do the same in Canada. If you see Australian youth working the slopes in Whistler\, French youth developing video games in Montreal\, or Korean youth working retail in Toronto there’s a good chance they are working and traveling on an IEC visa. \n\n\n\nThis workshop will explore how CQCC members can leverage IEC to achieve their business and human resource goals. From attracting young international talent through a simplified visa pathway to bolstering retention and training by offering current employees work abroad experiences at an international office or with partners abroad\, this session will explore the many ways CQCC members can use IEC to their advantage. The session will also outline IEC research that has highlighted the unique barriers that 2SLGBTQI+Q2+ youth face to working and traveling abroad and how innovative partnerships can address them. \n\n\n\nYou should attend this workshop if you are: \n\n\n\n\nAn employer looking for ways to address labour shortages\n\n\n\nAn employer looking for innovative ways to retain and up-skill staff\n\n\n\nSomeone in the academic sector looking to provide students with international career development opportunities\n\n\n\nA young Canadian looking to learn about how you can go on an international work and travel experience\n\n\n\n\nWhat you will learn: \n\n\n\n\nWhat the International Experience Canada (IEC) program is;\n\n\n\nHow IEC has been used by businesses to achieve their goals;\n\n\n\nIEC’s research findings on the unique barriers 2SLGBTQI+Q2+ youth face when planning to work and travel abroad;\n\n\n\nHow innovative partnerships can be implemented to address the unique barriers 2SLGBTQI+Q2+ youth encounter and to achieve partner business goals.\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker Bio: Colin Lalonde is a Policy Analyst with International Experience Canada. SUMMARY:Virtual One-on-One Matchmaking (Nov 30th\, 2022)
DESCRIPTION:CQCC’s One on One matchmaking is a semi annual event that brings together Certified 2SLGBTQI+Q Business Enterprises (2SLGBTQI+BE’s) and CQCC Corporate Members for 10 to 15 minute one-on-one networking sessions. During each session 2SLGBTQI+BE’s have the opportunity to present their business to our corporate members and are the perfect opportunity to learn about the offerings of 2SLGBTQI+BE’s in a concentrated environment.One matchmaking event\, on November 30\, 2022\, will be in a completely virtual setting\, and the other in a hybrid setting at the Annual 2SLGBTQI+ Global Business Summit & Supplier Diversity Forum in 2023. \n\n\n\nA 20 minute mandatory session starts things off at 12pm EDT where we will do an overview of the day and TJX will speak via Zoom. The rest of the event will be conducted within the matchmaking platform. Participants can make matches that fit their work schedule throughout the afternoon. \n\n\n\nUnlike our previous matchmaking events\, this event will be a 2 tiered event where 2SLGBTQI+BE’s can make matchmaking appointments with not only corporate members but also fellow diverse suppliers. The hope is that 2SLGBTQI+BE’s will also be able to network with each other with the goal of stimulating more tier 2 collaboration within our 2SLGBTQI+BE community. \n\n\n\nCQCC has engaged with TJX to sponsor this matchmaking event.  \n\n\n\nThe platform we will use is mybusinessmatches.com. CQCC Members get free exclusive use of this for the event.  \n\n\n\nThe use of this platform will allow us to streamline the matching process and ensure that all participants have a smooth experience. Our hope is that we can elevate the matchmaking experience. Participants will be able to view each others profiles on the platform and make direct matches. The platform is also capable of suggesting matches base on industry\, capabilities\, and keywords. Calendar invites and virtual meetings are integrated into the platform and automatically populate when a match has been confirmed. All matchmaking will be organized on the platform which uses profiles filled out by the participants to make matches base on industry and capability. \n\n\n\nRegister today for this one-on-one matchmaking event!

SDAC seeks to provide support\, guidance and consultation to stakeholders on the direct impacts of developing and applying effective inclusive procurement policies and practices. \n\n\n\nCollaborating and aligning efforts in key areas\, SDAC strives to improve economic opportunities for diverse certified suppliers from across the country. SDAC focuses on three core activities: Advocacy\, Research\, and Learning. \n\n\n\nThe four member organizations of the SDAC include: Canadian Aboriginal and Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC – representing Aboriginal and visible minority-owned businesses)\, Canadian Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (CQCC – representing 2SLGBTQI+-owned businesses)\, Inclusive Workplace Supply Council of Canada (IWSCC – representing Veterans and/or people with disabilities who own businesses) and Women Business Enterprises Canada Council (WBE Canada – representing women-owned businesses). \n\n\n\n​The four member organizations are all incorporated not-for profit Canadian organizations with a national scope.
