SUMMARY:2024 EY/CCQC Pitch Competition
DESCRIPTION:Dates: February 28\, 2024 1:00 pm – May 31\, 2024 3:00 pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCanada’s 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce\, in collaboration with EY\, invites CCQC’s certified suppliers and OUT for Business entrepreneurs to participate in the 2024 Virtual EY Pitch Series. This series comprises three Pitch Sessions throughout the year\, offering selected participants the opportunity to present their pitches to a panel of judges within a 10-minute timeframe. Judges will provide constructive feedback and tips to help entrepreneurs enhance their selling techniques to corporate buyers. \n\n\n\nThe pitch competition is only for CCQC’s certified suppliers and OUT for Business Entrepreneurs. \n\n\n\nFormat of the 2024 EY Virtual Pitch Series: \n\n\n\n\nEach round will feature at least three participants.\n\n\n\nThe order of presenters will be randomly selected before the presentations.\n\n\n\nPresentations are limited to two individuals from each participating company.\n\n\n\nEach participant will deliver a ten-minute presentation focusing on their service and value proposition.\n\n\n\nA two-minute warning will be given\, and presentations must conclude after ten minutes.\n\n\n\nPresenters may use PowerPoint presentations\, handouts\, or videos.\n\n\n\n\nPrizes:Winners of each round will be paired with mentors to prepare for the Finale in May. \n\n\n\n\nBest Pitch: Full scholarship to the Supplier Diversity Professional Excellence\, Tuck Executive Education at Dartmouth (approximate value: $4\,000US).\n\n\n\nRunner Up: To be announced.\n\n\n\nThird Place: To be announced.\n\n\n\n\nDates (Subject to change): \n\n\n\n\nMARCH 14 | 1-3 PM EST\n\n\n\nAPRIL 5 | 1-3 PM EST\n\n\n\nAPRIL 18 | 1-3 PM EST\n\n\n\n\n\nFINALE in May. She is certified by some of the world’s largest alcohol programs\, Prud’homme\, WSET\, Cicerone and AFicioNAdo (alcohol free certification). She has also appeared on national television talking about historical aspects of alcohol\, new trends in alcohol\, and the benefits of stronger communities. \nIn 2018\, Ren created Beer. Diversity.\, a company/advocacy group whose focus was for folks to be able to have open conversations one beer at a time. With the evolution of the company into non-alcohol spheres\, she introduced B. Diversity. in early 2023. This expansion aims to create safer spaces in which to have open and honest conversations and support to create meaningful change in a multitude of industries. \nSince 2022\, she has been working toward her HR management certification through Seneca College. She has also taught the History of Beer and Brewing course at Niagara College\, teaching students about both the well known and the forgotten aspects of history\, focusing on bringing diversity to the forefront of learning. \nShe has been the go-to diversity\, equity and inclusion expert for breweries of all sizes\, from small family run to multinational conglomerates. Ren has helped breweries with everything from procedures and policies through to hiring and retention\, alongside understanding the community they inhabit. She has also worked extensively outside of the drinks world\, assisting organisations with their DEI journey and learning. \nShe loves tattoos\, goats\, and gives pretty good hugs.

She joined the division in November 2023. In her role\, Tess supports the Business Development Manager and all four Innovation Centres with industry and community partner recruitment\, new project development & event execution. \nTess graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Public Relations. Prior to her role with R&I\, Tess worked alongside some of Canada’s most notable and impactful charities such as World Wildlife Fund (WWF)\, Free the Children and Environment Defence Canada.
